AIRCREWS PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
-

The Innovation Technology Laboratory (ITL) is developing several protective solutions for aircrews and recreational pilots. One of our designs is a helmet designed specifically for ultralight airplanes. This fiberglass helmet is provided with a complete communications system and is only made by order with the measurements of the wearer. It can sustain and endure direct impacts protecting the pilot. It also allows cristal clear communication thanks to a small intercom device which is installed separately in the plane and allows hands-free communication between the pilot and co-pilot (in a two side ultralight) or pilot to earth via a regular air-frecuency hand-held radio. The internal lining of the helmet was designed to provide maximum protection as well as sound insulation. The using of a noise-cancelling microphone allows the noise produced by the engine is reduced to a minimum protecting the pilot's hearing.

Helmet constructed at ITL with communication system.
Testing of the 4S-A1 training space suit in a NBL.
Last version of the AATE training space suit.

AATE has also worked in the area of design and construction of pressure suits for pilots and experimentally, in the area of protective garments for high altitudes as well as a proven design of a Environmental Mobility Unit (EMU) space suit for training purposes.
